Description

The 1992 W.S. Cox Plate field was one for the ages and was a truly classic edition.

Won by Cox Plate immortal Super Impose, trained by Lee Freedman and ridden by Greg Hall, 33,028 people gasped when Palace Reign fell and star galloper Naturalism fell over the top of him. Greg Hall, three lengths off them and running wide with 700m to go, avoided the fall and went on to win by a head over Kinjite and Slight Chance in the history-making race.

Super Impose was New Zealand-bred who was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame in 2007. In a career spanning 74 starts, he won eight Group One races and a then Australasian record $5.6 million in prizemoney.
